Why Does The Scale Go Up When It Should Go Down?

1. Stress. Your body can hold onto water when you are stressed. And stress can come on suddenly.
2. Ovulation (Ladies). Your body can hold a stack of water and inflammation when you ovulate (for some women, more so than pre-menstruation)
3. Premenstruation (Ladies). Yep - you know this. Your body inflames and this definitely shows on the scales! Even a week out!!
4. Exercise. If you've done more exercise than normal, or harder training than normal, your muscles are likely to be taking more water in for repair. Plus they're a little swollen themselves.
5. Maybe you ate a big meal last night and it hasn't left your body yet. This is NOT FAT.
6. Carbs. When you eat carbs (particularly processed carbs) your body automatically attaches water to it, causing an increase in bloating and weight on the scale. It goes away once digested.
7. Inflammation (similar to stress). When your body is inflamed for any number of reasons (illness, injury, over-exertion) it will hold onto whatever it can to repair. It's temporary (as long as the inflammation is temporary!)
All of these things have NOTHING to do with your actual body fat and muscle levels!!
You did NOT gain 1-2KG of extra bodyfat over night (or in a week!)
Happy Monday peeps!
